A Robot’s Experience of its User: Theory
نویسنده
چکیده
To make a robot that emotionally is more human-like, it should be capable of balancing simultaneously occurring tendencies of positive and negative affect. This paper is about the modeling of robot attitudes towards the user, using a fuzzy trade-off algorithm. Empirical research showed that in humans, involvement and distance are not mutually exclusive and that a range of factors contribute (e.g., ethics, affordances). A hypercube of fuzzy sets deals with combining these factors into an overall value for the involvementdistance trade-off, which subsequently can form the input for affective response selection (Bosse et al. 2008).

Users draw on four sources to judge a robot’s competence: (1) the robot’s voice, (2) physical appearance of and (3) the interaction experience with the robot but also (4) the relationship between the robot’s physical appearance and its conduct. Furthermore, most approaches in social robotics have an outcome-oriented focus and thus use questionnaires to measure a global evaluation of the robot a...
متن کاملUser Experience in Human-Robot Interactions
This paper describes our experiments concerning human-robot interaction and its evaluation in order to measure the user’s communication experience with the robot. We assume that the user’s evaluation of the interaction reflects their participation in the interaction as a participant, and correlates with their own multimodal signaling as well as with their perception of the robot’s communicative...

متن کاملApplication of Theory of Planned Behavior in Predicting Factors of Substance Abuse in Adolescents
Background and Objective: Adolescence is the most critical period of life as regards commencing drug abuse. The social cost and damage caused by drug abuse in adolescence are enormous, necessitating interventional programs to prevent this behavior. The theory of planned behavior (TPB) is perhaps the most influential theory for the prediction of social and health behaviors such as drug abuse.Mat...
متن کاملRevising in the relationship of social behavior and urban space within Islamic Vision (the concept of ideal user and his territory in original Islamic texts)
Identifying ideal user is a basic function of theoretical debates of urban design. Here, the situation of the concept of” Ideal user” is enquired in three main categories of social theories used in urban design discourses (i.e. socialistic theories, ecologistic ones and performance-based theories) and it is shown that none of them is of enough relevance to Islamic model of socio-spatial relati...
